Since the market launch of our first sewage treatment plant in 1972, we have been one of the pioneers in maritime wastewater treatment technology. Our plants achieve top performance in the treatment of wastewater and set standards with regard to simple operation, reliability and ease of maintenance.
We operate our own research and development laboratory near our headquarters in Hollenstedt, Germany, with direct connection to the municipal wastewater system. Here we test our plants for several thousand hours in continuous operation. We use the knowledge gained this way to further develop our products and to push the new development of future plant generations and technologies.
HOW HAMANN WASTEWATER TREATMENT WORKS
STAGE 1: MACERATION OF THE WASTEWATER
First, the waste water from the holding tank is macerated and thus prepared for the subsequent treatment stages.
STAGE 2: TREATMENT OF THE WASTEWATER BY DISSOLVED AIR FLOTATION (DAF)
This is the main stage of our sewage treatment technology. By means of our Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) technology we separate the suspended solids (TSS) and reduce the chemical (COD) and biological (BOD) oxygen demand. The basic principle of our DAF technology can be observed when opening a bottle of sparkling water: Water can absorb gas under pressure,
which quickly escapes when the pressure is released. In our wastewater treatment systems, the macerated wastewater is saturated with compressed air. By suddenly releasing the pressure we create microbubbles that adhere to suspended solids in the sewage and float them to the top of the flotation tank.
STAGE 3: DISINFECTION OF THE TREATED WASTEWATER BY UV-RADIATION
In the last step of the sewage treatment the already largely clarified waste water is treated with UV rays to kill the e-Coli germs.
HOW HAMANN ADVANCED WASTEWATER PURIFICATION WORKS
STAGE 1: MACERATION OF THE WASTEWATER
as described above
STAGE 2: TREATMENT OF THE WASTEWATER BY DISSOLVED AIR FLOTATION (DAF)
as described above
STAGE 3: BIOLOGICAL TREATMENT (NITRIFICATION) OF THE WASTEWATER IN MOVING BED BIOREACTOR (MBBR)
(RiverCruise and OceanCruise systems only)
This is the main stage of our advanced wastewater purification technology. In Moving Bed Bioreactors (MBBR), growth bodies for bacteria are kept permanently in motion by blowers in the wastewater to be treated. Bacterial processes metabolize the nitrogen compound and eliminate the carbon compound (Nitrogen, BOD5, COD and TOC).
STAGE 4: BIOLOGICAL TREATMENT (DENITRIFICATION) OF THE WASTEWATER IN MOVING BED BIOREACTOR (MBBR)
(OceanCruise systems only)
This second stage of the biological treatment is used in our OceanCruise plants to increase the purification effect.
STAGE 5: DISINFECTION OF THE TREATED WASTEWATER BY UV-RADIATION
In the last step of the sewage treatment the already largely clarified waste water is treated with UV rays to kill the e-Coli germs.
